Modern Slavery & Human Trafficking Statement
Tom J Storey Ltd trading as Storey Consulting
1. Introduction
This Statement is made by Tom J Storey Ltd, trading as Storey Consulting, in line with the spirit and intent of section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015. Although Storey Consulting's annual turnover is below the £36 million statutory threshold and the company is not legally required to publish a Statement under section 54, we recognise the importance of transparency in our supply chains and have voluntarily prepared this Statement to support our clients in meeting their own obligations.
2. Our Commitment
Storey Consulting has zero tolerance for modern slavery, servitude, forced or compulsory labour, and human trafficking. We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business relationships, and to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure that modern slavery is not taking place anywhere in our own business or in our supply chain.
We comply with all applicable legislation, including:
• the Modern Slavery Act 2015;
• the Employment Rights Act 1996;
• the National Minimum Wage Act 1998;
• the Working Time Regulations 1998;
• the Equality Act 2010; and
• relevant provisions of the Human Rights Act 1998.
3. Our Business
Storey Consulting is a UK-based management consultancy. The company operates as a sole-director limited company with a single direct employee (the Director). All services are delivered from offices in Richmond Upon Thames, United Kingdom, and on client premises within the UK. We do not manufacture, source, store or distribute any physical goods.
4. Our Supply Chain
Storey Consulting's supply chain is short and exclusively UK-based. It comprises:
• professional services (accountancy, legal, tax, insurance);
• IT services (cloud-hosted productivity, communications and accounting software);
• banking and financial services;
• office consumables purchased through reputable UK retailers; and
• training and professional subscription bodies.
We do not engage with suppliers in higher-risk geographies, sectors or labour categories typically associated with modern slavery.
5. Risk Assessment
We have assessed the modern slavery risk in our own business and supply chain as very low. The principal reasons are:
• the Director is the sole employee and is paid through PAYE on terms that materially exceed the National Living Wage;
• we have no migrant labour, agency labour, or vulnerable worker categories within our workforce;
• our suppliers are established UK-regulated firms or recognised software-as-a-service providers, all of whom publish their own modern slavery statements where they are within scope of section 54; and
• we do not procure any physical goods from high-risk supply chains.
6. Due Diligence
When entering into a new supplier relationship, Storey Consulting reviews the supplier's published modern slavery statement (where one is required) and considers any other publicly available information regarding their labour practices. Where any concern is identified, we will not enter into the relationship without satisfactory written assurances.
7. Policies
This Modern Slavery Statement should be read together with our Anti-Bribery & Corruption Policy and our Risk Management Policy. The Director reviews these policies annually.
8. Training & Awareness
The Director maintains awareness of modern slavery indicators and reporting routes through professional reading, government guidance and supplier-facing materials issued by clients in regulated industries. As the workforce is currently a single individual, formal classroom training is not required, but any future employees will receive induction-level briefing on modern slavery awareness.
9. Reporting Concerns
Any concern relating to modern slavery — within Storey Consulting or its supply chain — should be reported in confidence to the Director at toms@storeyconsulting.co.uk. Concerns may also be reported to the Modern Slavery & Exploitation Helpline on 08000 121 700, or to the police.
10. Approval & Review
This Statement is approved by the Director, who has overall responsibility for preventing modern slavery within Storey Consulting. It will be reviewed and, where necessary, updated annually.
